Derailleur

If it’s time to upgrade or replace your Derailleur, Bike Addict is here to help. We stock a wide range of Derailleur’s from leading bicycle brands, and you can select the one that meets your exacting requirements.

Upgrading your derailleur is a great way to get more from your bicycle, and if you’re serious about riding you may find that you want to swap out your existing component and add a more cutting edge version. Sometimes teeth also break over time and the component takes a bit of wear and tear, and a replacement is simply needed to get your bike back to performing at its optimum. We’ve got front and rear derailleurs for all size bikes and all gear speeds. We also offer free shipping on all orders over R1000* and our in-house workshop and maintenance team can help you fit your new derailleur too.

The word derailleur is derived from the French word that refers to a train derailing from its tracks, and in fact, it does the complete opposite on your bicycle. The derailleur is technically the gear set and consists of the chain, multiple sprockets and the mechanisms to move the chain from one sprocket to the next, keeping it in line. Although thought of as gears, they are actually sprockets as a chain drives them, and they are not driven by each other, however the name remains as it is commonly used across the cycling world.

A high quality, hard working derailleur will give you the edge when climbing hills at a lower speed and will help you gather speed when on the flats. Our range of derailleur’s are all manufactured by leading brands including SRAM and Shimano, and are designed to offer you hundreds of kilometres of smooth riding.
